Rhododendron comes from the Greek : rhodos, "rose" and dendron, "tree".
It was the naturalist Carl von Linné who gave the name RHODODENDRON.
Today the genus RHODODENDRON group together about 1000 species and the
number of hybrids of rhododendrons is estimated at more than 25,500.
